I hate working on my truck Empty
PostSubject: I hate working on my truck   I hate working on my truck Icon_minitimeSat Nov 10, 2007 10:23 pm

I own a red 99 F150 some of you may have seen me bring it to meets or around town in it. Its nothing special at all but its a sloid work truck and has never let me down yet even though I neglect the poor thing waaaay too much. So today I decided id do a little regular maintence like my 15000 mile oil change Embarassed new air filter new fuel filter new plugs new brake pads you know the usual. Heres where everything started to suck. The oil change was no biggie youd have to be retarded to eff up that. But the freakin fuel filter is in a horible spot and requires a specific tool to unplug the lines. So back to the store I went. I got the tool and fought with it for about 30 min and finnaly got it. Then the freakin spark plugs were a PITA. Ford and all of its infinate wisdom obviously like putting dumb crap right in the way of the plug wires and plugs. SO the 6 plugs took at least an hour. Yes it a 6 cylinder. ANd the air filter shoud be easy right... ohh its easy getting the filter box apart but back together is another thing. Its all just poor design. Theres an AC line one inch from three spark plugs making getting in there a beeeeeeaaaaatch. ANd theres like 8 inches they could have moved the line over and out of the way. I didnt even get to brake pads cause I was so freakin frustrated and I ran outta time. The reason im ranting about this is I appreciate Honda even more now for the forethought they put into their designs and how easy they are to work on. Gimmie a cramped honda engine bay any day over a tall ass dirty porly laid out FORD.
