and to get full potential of p29's w/ a y8 head you need atleast 99 octane!!

ignition timing is advanced.. rotated towards firewall. it ran fine all day then it progressively started to get slower and i ended the day with an 11.04 and nothing else changed. so i'm gonna take it easy on her for the week till the weekend, then check it out and see what's wrong. he also found an adapter plate that let's you mount b series trannys to d-series motors, and i'm guessing that might be next, seeing as how he has three b18's 2 of which are 5 spd's and 1 is an auto, all 3 have less than 50k miles on them. i'll find out next weekend, if the d is fucked i'll go b-series.

oh and i don't know if this matters but i have ngk iridium plugs in it.

dont waste you money on a b to d plate, just find another d tranny!!! its way cheaper!

when you get new spark plugs get zfr7f-11 ngks they are only 1.50ish a piece iridiums are a waste of money

not to mention i was watching the mph on you car all day the motor never fell off so you didnt hurt it! i think truly think the air got worse i saw 2 cars i was watching closely slow down the same amount which normally means air

it's chattering real bad and barely stayed running on the way home. i ripped the VC off and checked the lash everything is fine there, i checked the compression and everything seems to be ok there as well but it seems like something in the valve train is messed up. it's chattering bad. not a block chatter like the last motor i destroyed but definitely something in the head. it's fine at high rpm's but idles like shit.


the b-d plate was something i was curious to do. but i trust your judgement.

you almost got lucky ive got a brand new a6 timing belt laying around but its to long for a y8 motor

so i ran up to the store, and it chatters at idle but when put under a load it goes away. is it possible i could have spun a rod bearing? maybe a valve sticking? i'm just trying to think of anything that would cause it to chatter like it is. and the amount of oil that was shooting out of the valve cover was quite a bit. when i got home the firewall was soaked as well as the bottom of the hood. so i put a rubber hose about 14" on the nipple on the valve cover and made a makeshift catch can out of a bottle to contain any more oil that happens to want to leave the motor.

oh and the spot where it appeared it was leaking from the HG is still dry after i wiped it all off at holt. i should still get another HG though right?

way i look at it, 30 dollars for a head gasket would be worth it to me to know what pistons i have in my block!

when you spin a rod bearing it makes a super loud chatter and you loose oil presure.


if i had to guess i would say you maybe damaged you clutch maybe,,, but check you oil anyway, drive it minimally til saturday

ok.....oil pressure is definitely alright. but yeah i'll still get the head gasket.
